The Heritage Foundation’s far-right authoritarian blueprint – Project 2025 – calls for discriminating against single-parent households, criminalizing the LGBTQ+ community, and abolishing the phrase “reproductive health” from all government policies, documents, and resources.
They also want to use private school vouchers to funnel taxpayer dollars away from public education and into private religious schools. This is already happening in states like Arkansas and Ohio.
As for abortion, the pro-life crowd won’t have to worry much longer. Project 2025 would outlaw medications used in abortion and ban medical schools from teaching students how to perform the procedure.
People think it’s ridiculous to believe these things will happen. What’s ridiculous is thinking that they aren’t happening already.
This summer, Utah became the first state to ban an entire list of books from school libraries, and Louisiana became the first state in over four decades to require schools to display the Ten Commandments. Now, Oklahoma is in a legal battle to put the Bible in every public school classroom.
Republicans in Congress have introduced legislation to ban abortion nationally, end in vitro fertilization (IVF), and let Health & Human Services track pregnant women.
In the past two years, 19 states have passed laws requiring Americans to upload a photo ID to view pornography, opening the door for government tracking of our private moments.
We have been programmed to think this is a temporary glitch in our system and that it’s a coincidence so many states are turning backwards at once. IT’S NOT A COINCIDENCE. Religious extremists have been planning this for decades, and our leaders have ignored it for too long.
The worst monsters behind Project 2025 aren’t the guys with their name on the book. They’re the ones who paid them to plan it and who pay Republican lawmakers to bring it to life.
The collapse of democracy, rule of law, and equal rights is not normal. This is not politics as usual. Donald Trump is not our only threat, and pretending otherwise will be our downfall.
